Just Say "Yes" to Amendment 6
Florida voters will have the opportunity in 2012 to pass a state constitutional amendment that prohibits public funds from going to pay for abortions. Amendment 6, which will be on the Nov. 6, 2012, ballot, will prevent your tax dollars from going to pay for abortion.
Limits Abortion Right, Too
But that's not all. The measure also eliminates an anomaly by which Florida's constitution is deemed to provide a broader right to abortion than does the U.S. Supreme Court, in its Roe v. Wade and subsequent abortion rulings.
It's a long and convoluted story, which began in the late 1970s after the state constitution's privacy provision was revised. Then, in 1989, the state Supreme Court interpreted the privacy provision, Article 1, Sec. 23, to provide a right to abortion so broad that modest, common-sense statutes like parental notification were deemed unconstitutional.
In fact, It took a state constitutional amendment to insure parents would be notified before their under-age daughters could have an abortion.
Amendment 6 will prevent the state high court from using our constitution's privacy provision, which makes no mention of abortion, from being used to stymie laws that limit abortion in Florida.
More information will be coming about Amendment 6 in the near future. For now, if you want to insure your tax dollars do not go to pay for abortion, and you want to limit the "right" to abortion, please remember, 'Yes on 6!"

Thank you! That, more than anything else, is what we want to say to all who gave to and who attended the Broward Right to Life Benefit Breakfast, featuring speaker Janet (Folger) Porter.
The result smashed all records for financial investment from our friends for life in Broward County! All told, in cash, check, and pledges, nearly $20,000 was raised at the Benefit Breakfast on Nov. 12.
Again, Thank You!
God of the Universe
It was a wonderful morning attended by some 270 people, and featured our speaker Janet (Folger) Porter who reminded us that we serve the infinite God who created the universe and for Whom nothing is too hard. Porter, the president of Faith2Action, gave a fascinating account of how the Heartbeat Bill in Ohio came about and where it sits right now. The bill, which has been passed by the Ohio House, is now before the state Senate. Porter cited recent polling showing that the measure, which bans abortion after the unborn child's heartbeat is detectible (the heart starts beating at about 21 days), is supported by a strong majority of Ohioans.
Tewannah Aman shared about the work of Broward Right to Life, including a powerful testimony from a young woman who was considering abortion before talking to Tewannah. Her daughter, Grace, is now 2 years old! Thank God.
40 Days For Life!
Tewannah also laid out some elements of our 2012 plan, which include pro-life advertising on taxi-cabs (funds permitting) and bench ads just outside 3 abortion centers in Broward. We also have an exciting plan in 2012 to participate in "40 Days for Life," a 40 day prayer vigil outside an abortion center in Broward. We will be providing more information about 40 Days for Life in the near future.
Thank you, again, for your prayers, your gifts, and your friendship as we, together, seek to bring life to Broward. With your help, we can reach hearts and minds with the truth about the sanctity of human life and give unborn children at risk of abortion, the opportunity to live, love, and laugh.
